Transportation home from after care program ?
Important
That’s great the students can walk there after school. This is a good question…
It is not required to provide transportation for activities not related directly to school. Under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, schools are required to provide transportation to ensure students experiencing homelessness have access to their school of origin and educational stability. However, transportation for after-school activities, such as clubs, is not explicitly required under the law.
That said, if these activities are deemed necessary for a student to fully participate in school or if they are tied to the student’s educational success, schools may choose to provide transportation. This determination often depends on local district policies and how they interpret the needs of McKinney-Vento students.
If this student(s) does need transportation assistance to get home after boys and girls club, I’m wondering if the boys and girls club provides transportation assistance?
