Determination of Type of Transportation Offered
Can the district determine to offer payment in lieu instead of contracted / paid transportation to and from the location living and the school if providing paid contracted transportation is deemed impractical?

The mode of transportation is determined by the district, provided it does not create a barrier to student attendance or full participation (see legal citation below). Communication with parents, guardians, or Unaccompanied Homeless Youth (UHY) regarding transportation options ensures the mode of transportation offered will be suitable for them. This collaborative approach helps to create solutions that work for families and ensures students have the opportunity to fully benefit from their educational experience.
