Question

How do you address that a child divulges their living situation, but they do not want us to speak to their caregiver? What do you do in this situation?

      Hi Kristen,
      That is a tough situation. If the child’s safety is ever at risk, we would be mandated to report what was said. I usually try to inform the students at the outset so they understand that. If safety is not a risk, then each case has to be considered individually. Best wishes with this dilemma.
