Notifying Families of McKinney-Vento Designation

What methods do you use as a McKinney-Vento homeless liaison to notify families of a McKinney-Vento designation?

My role is more administrative than student facing. I often just receive the information regarding a student situation and then make a determination using the McKinney-Vento guidelines. There are other staff members that provide services to the student(s).

I am curious if anyone provides a letter with notice of the designation and a FAQ (or similar) that explains McKinney-Vento.

      Hi Kevin, thank you for lifting this question. A written determination becomes helpful especially if there is a disagreement (dispute) about the determination. I would suggest a letter that states the determination and the reason for the determination. It could be as easy as stating they are sharing the housing of others and it is not regular. I would also include their rights for being MV elgible and the dispute process (in case your determination goes against ehri beliefs).
