Moderator@ Laura S I agree with Rachel and the options and resources she shared. Identification is key, A lot of people don’t know what they don’t know. So I would spend some time on warning signs so that you will have a staff that better understands what to look for. This will make identification easier for you. Good luck, and keep us posted on how things are going. 🙂

ParticipantHey Laura, I’m Rachel 🙂 I’m a MV Coordinator in Michigan. You’re right about educating your staff about MV. There’s a few ways you could go about this depending on your school.
Here are a few ideas and let me know what you think.
– present during an all staff meeting
– email your whole staff (make sure everyone is included.. bus drivers, lunch staff, nurses, etc) with a definition about MV/ how to contact you/flow of communication when they identify a student
– have your staff watch MV awareness videos… McKinney-Vento.org has optionsHere’s a website with resources including a slideshow template for an awareness presentation:

ParticipantHi ! I am a first year Liaison and I just reached my third month in this position. Definitely overwhelmed but I am glad that there are a lot of people for me to go to, to ask questions and any advice I need. My only current struggles is just stress management but I feel as though once I get more comfortable in the position things will get better.

Moderator@Gabrielle M Hi, I am newer to my coordinator role. I always encourage my liaisons to remember to take time for themselves. What that looks like is different for everyone. I also remind them they are not alone and I am here for them. Please know we have you. If you have questions or are feeling the pressure, reach out. 🙂
