I work as the Community Outreach Specialist in my district. Part of my role is not only to serve as the Homeless Liaison but also to serve as the Parents As Teachers Coordinator. So many times those roles overlap. I recently helped a family clean their home after a DFS referral – I went with one of our bus drivers and we spent two hours in the home cleaning trash, mouse droppings, cockroach droppings, etc. The joy in the mother’s face when we were done was worth every single moment spent in that home. That is my why!! To help families be successful in their daily lives.
