Knock Harder
This life snippet is from a friend and mentor and former liaison in my state. She has many stories and “realities” that she has written as part of a “sanity project”. I would like to share this one!
Knock Harder
By Beth McCullough
“Why didn’t you come down?”
“I did.”
“I was here the whole time.”
“I knocked a little but I heard you were talking to someone else.”
“Ohhh, I was talking with a parent but we were basically done. I told her I was expecting a student and we were just saying goodbye. I am so sorry. I didn’t hear you knock.”
“I knock really light.”
“Listen, you need to knock harder. In everything, you just need to knock harder. With the University you plan on attending, we just needed to ask a few questions and they were very willing to accommodate you. That is knocking harder. Knocking harder says ‘Hey, let me in . . . into this school, into a study group, into asking someone to mentor you, into an internship.’ You need to knock harder.”
Where do you need to knock harder?
