@rachelmv let’s brainstorm. I would like to do a family engagement night around this as well. 🙂

You may want to work with your District Athletic Director to help with your food drive. Once a year we hold a food drive at one of our basketball games. Instead of paying cash at the gate, people bring in canned foods to get into the game.

We are always seeing a need for proteins…. If we do have them some families struggle with recipes. Anyone have any easy recipes?

Crockpot cooking is helpful for families staying in motels/hotels. Making sure they have essential tools, like a can opener, utility knife, crockpot, goes a long way in the ability to make healthy meals. One recipe that is delicious and nutritious is:

        Chicken Provencal

1 lb. boneless skinless chicken breast seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic
        3 cans petite diced tomatoes
        3 cans northern beans drained
        1 carton of chicken broth
Diced red, orange, and/or yellow peppers

Put all ingredients in a crockpot and cook on low for 6-8 hours

Shred the chicken and serve topped with shredded cheese.

If you are sharing this with a family that may not have the essentials on hand, make sure to include utensils, bowls, and napkins as well!

        • Love this crockpot idea so much. Such a good option! That recipe sounds amazing. I would like to host a crockpot cooking class with families sometime this winter…
