Doubled up time limit?

I just had an interview for Mckinny vento re-eligibility and I was told even though I’m double up, that she thinks my situation is stable because ive been here over a year. Does that’s sound right?

Everything I’ve read says that there is no time limit. I was approved for Mckinny vento last year.

About a year and a half ago, I started staying with a family friend as an emergency to escape a domestic violence situation (which I have documentation of). I explained to her that I’m not on the lease and could get kicked out by the landlord at any moment. I’m uncertain how long we can stay! Also, the friends lease ends in March and they are moving with relative. I was fired from my job during the domestic violence situation because I missed too many days of work,  therefore I couldn’t afford my own housing, especially since it was an emergency, hence being double up.

I’m just now getting my job back and its difficult to find affordable housing. I dont understand what about my situation sounds stable. We literally need to hide from the landlord and I’m regularly stressed out about how much longer we can stay. Last year, the school gave me a very hard time about enrolling and insisted I go through Mckinny Vento, and so I did and was approved.

1. An eligibility worker called me for the re-eligibility interview this morning, in which I argued against her judgment, so she said she’ll talk to her supervisor and call back. I haven’t heard back yet and I’m nervous. I dont want my kids missing school!

I’m I in the wrong here?

Update: She called back and said I’m denied because I’ve been here to long. The schools the one who told me to apply in the first place. I dont understand.

I’m so upset I was made to apply for Mckinny vento and tell all my embarassing business.
