Enrollment Documents
What avenues do other districts take to assist families in gaining immunization records and/or birth certificates? I am relatively new to the position and have read through the training that it is one of our duties to try and assist families in this process. We enrolled the students without them and have given the families time to retrieve the documents, but there seems to be a barrier I would like to try and figure out how to remove.

Hi Shawna! If the parent is having difficulties obtaining the documents, you could assist them in a few ways.
- Offer to help with transportation to get to the doctors or the Department of Health. Whether that means assisting with gas, providing a taxi, or you transporting them yourself from place to place.
- Use your MV funds to help pay for the documents.
- Connect family with agencies that will assist them in obtaining these documents.
- Make sure they know exactly what they need to do and where they need to go to obtain the documents. If they are new to your area, they may not know where they need to go.
