Doubled Up in Your Own Home?
If you have a family who has brought in additional family to live with you due to economic hardship (Spouse with Cancer), and the house is a new build home, would that still qualify as homeless if they’re the homeowner? They wouldn’t be able to make it on they’re own.
I say they do qualify, but is that correct?

In this situation, the family that owns the home ( and their children) would not be considered doubled-up or homeless.
The family that moved in due to economic hardship are the ones we would consider as being homeless and eligible under the law due to economic hardship. The context is important here and the family needs to have lost their housing due to this situation not a voluntary move for additional support during a hard time.
If the situation is arranged, fixed, adequate, and regular – they are living together and sharing chores, bills, food, etc. Then it is not a homeless situation for the family that moved in.
