McKinney Vento Athletes

Good afternoon!

I have a student that has moved here into a Foster-home situation. Before he was here, he was not in a very good environment, as you can imagine. His grades were not good and he did not come in with any credit. My question is, would any of you all have an idea about how MSHAA recognizes McKinney-Vento students and if they allow those students to play sports, even though they don’t qualify due to their grades they received during trying times? I have sent the question off to MSHAA, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this same issue before and what outcome has come from it. Thank you!
